Wanting to bring more authentic and street style Mexican food to the area, Erik Leon and Juan Gonzalez opened El Cerro Tacos in September of 2018 in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Erik's father was also an inspiration, having opened El Cerro Grande in 1992. You will find traditional flavors and recipes influenced by cuisine found in Jalisco and Michoacán, Mexico.
After finding success in Jacksonville, Erik and Juan decided to open shop in Swansboro, North Carolina with their second El Cerro Tacos location, which opened in the winter of 2019.

"We like to have a more street style brand, food and atmosphere. Day of the Dead culture and car culture is a big part of our inspiration. We wanted to bring a more authentic street style Mexican food and step away from the traditional style Mexican places you find in the eastern NC area."
